From January 8–10, 2026, the 29th edition of the Planai Classic kicks off!
A snow-covered mountain road in the Alps. Towering walls of snow line the sides. The deep rumble of an old carburetor engine echoes through the night, and slowly, through the thick swirl of falling snow, the silhouette of a car without a roof appears.
The driver, wearing a leather cap and aviator goggles, fights his way through the icy darkness. No, this isn’t the Monte Carlo Rally of 1927 – it’s the Planai Classic in the Schladming-Dachstein region.
THE DACHSTEIN CHALLENGE
It’s all uphill for the participants on Thursday, January 8: the road climbs to an altitude of 1,700 meters. The ascent through Ramsau and along the snow-covered Dachstein Road is reminiscent of Hannibal’s legendary crossing of the Alps.
Afterward, participants warm up again at the opening evening held at the Sporthotel Royer in Schladming.
HOCHWURZEN-TROPHY
On Friday, January 9, the route leads through the Schladming-Dachstein region, featuring exciting special stages and another Dachstein hill climb.
The day concludes with the spectacular Night Challenge at the trotting track in Gröbming, followed by the evening event at “Häuserl im Wald.”
THE GRAND FINALE ON THE PLANAI
The final day on Saturday, January 10, begins with the special stage at Alpenflugplatz Niederöblarn. After a midday break in the beautiful surroundings of the Imlauer Hotel Schloss Pichlarn, the traditional drive up the Planai mountain road is on the agenda.
The award ceremony follows at the Hohehaus Tenne.
