Ennstal-Classic 2019: 235 teams start their engines!

Derek Bell

Although we enter the era of e-mobility the passion for classic cars is at its peak. No less than 235 cars built until 1972 will start at this year's Ennstal-Classic.

49 brands - amongst these many that do not exist anymore - are driven by people from 18 nations like Finland, USA, Australia, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Greece, Slowenia, Switzerland and Germany.

The oldest car with #1 is a Ballot racecar that became seventh in Indianapolis in 1920. In 1921 Jules Goux won with this beautiful "fossil" from the heroic times of car history the Grand Prix of Iltay. Today Alexander Schaufler drives this 107 HP strong car.

With 43 cars Porsche has the highest market share in the starting field, followed by 26 Jaguar, 21 Alfa Romeo, 13 Mercedes-Benz and 11 Austin Healey and 8 Ferrari. Fürther brands ara: Bugatti, Bentley, Iso Rivolta, Nash, SIATA, Squire, Tatra, Daf, Devin, Plymouth and the Russian GAZ racecar driven by Sigfrid Wolf.
Wolfgang Porsche leads the Porsche phalanx from the factory museum in Stuttgart with his co-driver Günther Horvath.

We are happy to have 19 cars in the pre-war epoch I (1924 - 1934), seven ladies teams will drive the rallye and eight young teams fight for the "Vredestein Youngster of the Year Trophy".

Like the 5-times Le Mans winner Derek Bell said: „For me the best rallye in the world!“
