26th Ennstal-Classic: record starting field and first time at the Salzburgring




The Ennstal-Classic from July 18th to July 21st is Austrias's most famous classic car rallye with 238 participants from 17 nations on 52 different car brands.

Nowhere else so many racing-legends, VIPs and top-managers are part of the entry list. Amongst these: David Brabham, Jo Ramirez, Mario Illien, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Derek Bell, Dieter Quester, Wolfgang Porsche, Toni Mörwald, Rudi Roubinek, Arturo Merzario, Peter Kraus, Nina Proll and Gregor Bloeb...

On Thursday, July 19th the Ennstal-Classic lead its participants from Gröbming to Ramsau am Dachstein, the Salzburgring and further on over the Postalm to Bad Mitterndorf - with additional checkpoints at Pürgg, Öblarn and Haus im Ennstal. After 370 km the rallye finished in Schladming.

On day two 411 km had to be driven. The traditional Stoderzinken mountain challenge started the day. After a stop at Spital am Pyhrn the field arrived at Steyr where thousands of spectators welcomed the beautiful cars.

After a stop at Lunz am see and a checkpoint at the Shell service station in Rottenmann a regularity test at the mountain airfield in Niederöblarn was driven. But before that happened a show-run with racecars took place in front of many enthusiastic spectators: Abarth and Ferrari racecars, a Ford GT40 and many other fantastic cars could be watched in action. The Ennstal-Classic arrived in Gröbming at 8 o'clock pm.

On Saturday the legendary finale of the Ennstal-Classic took place at the center of Gröbming. After a "Red Bull Sky-Dive Show" the ZENITH Grand-Prix started at 1 pm. All the stars and highlight cars from the Porsche, Ferrari and Abarth collections drove the circuit through the city center of Gröbming pepped by thousands of fans. Then the Ennstal-Classic participants started for the final chapter which consisted of seven regularity tests.
