Joachim Althammer, organiser of the Roßfeld race, registered a Hartmann-DKW Formula Junior for the Speed-Show. The Formular Junior was launched in 1957 after and idea of the Italian racer and journalist Giovanni Lurani.
The technical regulations verlangte a wheel base of at least two meters and a minimum weight of 400 kg. The engine
with max. 1100ccm had to be from a homologated touring car.
The Formula Junior achieved huge popularity. After the Italian companys like Stanguellini, Wainer, De Sanctis and OSCA the British took the command with Lotus, Cooper, Lola, Elva and Brabham. Drivers like Jochen Rindt, Jim Clark, Peter Arundell, Josef Siffert, Curd Barry, Kurt Ahrens and Gerhard Mitter earned their first spurs in the Formula Junior.
Joachim Althammer reanimated a Hartmann with an 80 HP DKW engine. The car was built by Alred Hartmann in Berchtesgaden. In 1961 it was delivered t the Yugoslav president Tito. In 2017 Althammer re-imported it from Croatia. The Speed-Show is the first official driven presentation.
