After a year of involuntary pause, event life in the region Schladming / Dachstein region starts into the post-COVID era with a true festival of delights from the world of vintage cars: The Ennstal-Classic 2021 takes place from July 21st to 24th and offers an abundance of joy and emotion that can be hardly anywhere nowadays – driving in the last paradise!
A Legendary Summer Event
For almost 30 years, the Ennstal-Classic has been considered a dazzling summer event far beyond the scene of classic car fans. It celebrates the automobile as a cultural asset, being Austria’s first and only climate-neutral classic car rally.
This year’s Ennstal-Classic boasts an impressive lineup of participants: 227 teams from 20 nations compete across 42 different car brands. While Gröbming, the rally center, draws attention, nearby leg villages will also be in the spotlight.
The 2021 route includes Mariazell, Autostadt Steyr, Bad Ischl, and the World Cup town of Schladming. F1 fans can enjoy Friday’s Liezen main square entrance, where Ernst Hausleitner creates a one-two-pass spectacle. Longtime Ennstal-Classic moderator Andreas Gröbl from Servus TV’s Formula 1 team will host the event in Gröbming.
Historic Vehicles and Star Drivers
The main protagonists of the Ennstal-Classic are and will of course remain the various historical vehicles, divided as always into four epochs from 1918 (!) To 1972. Porsche returns as main partner, bringing museum cars and top drivers like Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard, and Fritz Enzinger. Rudi Lins will drive the Porsche 907 KH at the legendary Porsche Design Grand Prix through the town of Gröbming. Actor Richy Müller, known as Inspector Thorsten Lannert, will also drive a Porsche at the rally. Almost an inventory of the Ennstal starting field are protagonists such as the racing drivers Rauno Aaltonen and Jo Ramirez.
So that the Planai-Classic from January 6th – 8th 2022 can take place without restrictions, we ask ALL SPECTATORS OF THE EVENT TO FOLLOW THE WELL-KNOWN COVID RULES! As is customary for all events throughout Austria in 2021, the certification will be checked.
