From July 19 to 22, 2023, it’s that time again: the Schladming – Dachstein – Gröbming region, in short, the Enns Valley, belongs to classic cars and their fans, as it does every year. For the 31st edition of Austria’s most renowned classic car rally, the organizers are revolutionizing the event with some innovations.
Reduce to the Max: A well-known slogan that usually stands for more quality and less mass. Also for the Ennstal-Classic a small cut was indicated, in order to ensure the proven high quality standards in route guidance and driving experience: The participant field of the Ennstal-Classic 2023 is limited to 200 vehicles.
And that was it with the restrictions. In all other areas, there will be a big push. For example in the timing – in cooperation with the company Kart-Data from Obertrum – which will be carried out this year for the first time GPS-supported. From 2023, the measurement in the cut tests will be carried out via GPS measuring points. Absolutely reliable and accurate to the tenth. In mountain classifications, on the circuit and at the Porsche Design Grand Prix in Gröbming, the hundredth of a second will continue to apply for light barrier / transponder measurement.
What does this mean for the participants? A much more colorful mix of different special stages, fewer empty kilometers and, overall, more scope for development when it comes to determining the placings.

Porsche Design is not only producing a limited edition of the legendary Chronograph 1 for the Ennstal Classic, there will once again be a fine chronograph as the main prize for the era and overall winners.
The Stuttgart-based sports car brand is celebrating 75 years of Porsche this year and will be celebrating this anniversary in a fitting manner at the Ennstal-Classic. The Stuttgart Heritage and Museum team will once again bring historic vehicles piloted by brand ambassadors to the start, facts and figures will follow shortly.
